Hillenbrand designated for assignment

In a move that's destined to result in the trade of Shea Hillenbrand, the Jays have designated their DH for assignment. This comes on the heels of a series of interviews Hillenbrand gave earlier today in which he open critized the Blue Jays organization.

Who's in the market for a corner infielder/DH with average defense, a strong bat and low OBP? Both the Yankees and Padres are reportedly looking for veteran help at the corners, while the Dodgers are dangling Cesar Izturis and and Odalis Perez in return for a bat. I kind of like the idea of the Jays re-acquiring Izturis and adding Perez to the rotation…

  1. I think the Jays would be very lucky to get Izturis and Perez for Hillenbrand. I liked Shea and I am sorry to see him gone and I think his leaving has unnerved his teammates at a very crucial time. Unless the Jays get something good and something fast in trade, I think this is the beginning of the end for this season.
