Grissom hangs up his cleats
Marquis Grissom has just announced his retirement after 17 years in the Majors. Grissom was a player that I loved to watch in an Expos' uniform. While his OBP could have been higher, Grissom was fast on the base pads and had a strong bat to compliment his speed. I understand that he was also a positive force in the clubhouse and had a strong work ethic. Grissom was sidelined by injuries throughout the latter years of his career, but usually managed to get in more than 500 ABs a season. He's a player I'll miss seeing on the field, that is, until he enters the coaching and/or management side of the game.
