Last night I was watching the Pirates/Diamonbacks game on MLB.TV and was surprised to see a large white Steal Your Face with Eric Byrnes' #22 in the middle hoisted up by a fan when Byrnes came up to bat. (I tried to get screenshot but was too slow on the draw.) Being a longtime Deadhead myself (I have a Steal Your Face design tattooed on my right arm), I quickly did some searches on Google to find out more about Byrnes' connection to the Dead. As it turns out, Byrnes' at-bat intro music is a Grateful Dead tune, and apparently he likes to listen to the Dead to get warmed up for games. Cool! Can anyone tell me what Dead song is Byrnes' intro? And, cheers to the Deadhead/Byrneshead in Phoenix! You gave me a wide smile!
