Postseason eligibility lists set: 2 days, 21 hours, 38 minutes

The World Series is all about "mojo"

Oh well, you win some, you lose some! I really thought the Tigers could have won last night's game and brought the series back to the Motor City, but it just didn't happen. It's plainly evident that my thoughts were getting mixed up with my hopes.

Everyone knows that the team with the most "mojo" wins it all. The Tigers had mojo all season long, and they certainly had mojo in the ALCS. But you could almost see that mojo slip away from the Tigers in the WS (all those errors!) and slowly make it's way into the hearts of the Cardinals.

Throughout the series, I kept thinking back to that comment Tony LaRussa made in the last week of the season, something to the effect of "If we win the division, we'll win it all." The media jumped all over this: IF we win? And just how will you win it all with your team in such a shambles? Despite the long list of injured Cardinals, and the appearance that the team was being carried by some guy named Albert, LaRussa's red birds came through. It's just too bad for me that I'm not a Cardinals fan.

Aside from the fact that the team I picked lost, I feel a little jipped with the past two World Series. Can we please make it a full 7-game series in 2007? No more WS sweeps or 4-1's, OK? I want to squeeze every single game I can get out of a season!

BallHype: hype it up!

  1. Yeah, I'm totally with you about these World Series sweeps. The World Series have been such rip-offs over the past three years.

Maybe we could have a seven game Yankees v. Mets world series next year. That'd be really cool….

  3. Thanks for your comment, Zachary!

You might have noticed that my complaint revolved around the past 2 WS: I didn't include 2004–on purpose. While it was a sweep, it was also very magical. I got to watch Boston win game 4 in a large and crowded sports bar in Vancouver that was packed with Red Sox fans. What a game! What dominance by the Sox! I walked outside after the game to appreciate the full moon eclipse. Then I walked around the corner to the Commodore and saw a great Spearhead concert. So, even though it was a 4-game WS, it was such an amazing night for me that the memory stays sweet.

Another subway series in 2007? It could happen! Everyone seems to be picking the Mets to win the WS next year. It's a little early for predictions if you ask me, but a 7-game NYC WS in '07 sounds great!
