Soriano to the Mets or Red Sox?
Soriano batted in the leadoff spot and played in left field today for the Nationals. In his Spring Training game debut, Soriano doubled, walked and had one RBI. The Nationals lost 9-3 to the St. Louis Cardinals. (What's their ST record now, 1-20?)
Alfonso is undoubtedly not a happy camper in Washington. Not surprisingly, the rumor mill continues to flush out outrageous sounding trades involving the disgruntled second baseman–I mean left fielder. The latest? Soriano to the Mets for Kaz Matsui and Victor Diaz. Reportedly, Bowden also wanted highly touted prospect Lastings Milledge, but that's where the talks ended. This sounds like a terrible trade for the Nationals, so I guess Bowden might just go for it!
MLB.com Nationals' beat reporter Bill Ladson mentioned in his Monday mail bag column that he thinks Bowden might still go after the Red Sox latest acquisition, outfielder Wily Mo Pena. But are the Red Sox going to want Soriano when they already have former Padre Mark Loretta slated for second base?
