Clayton a fit for DC?

I was reading Jim Molony's new article on MLB.com today, Teams seek strength up the middle, an analysis of the shortstop-second baseman tandems around the majors. One very short sentence caught my eye: "The Nationals are also talking with free agent shortstop Royce Clayton." This is news to me! We certainly need more production and better defense from the shortstop position; Guzman was quite a disappointment last year.

Also around the rumor mill, MLB Trade Rumors is reporting about a possible 3-way trade between the Red Sox, Nationals and Mets. In this unlikely scenario, the Nats trade Vidro and Jay Berggman, and receive Matt Clement and Alex Cora.
