Non-waiver trade deadline: 8 days, 2 hours, 0 minutes

Bowden still trying to hook Sosa

Despite the recent comment posted on MLB.com, "Bowden was not willing to increase the offer", the Nationals reportedly doubled the cash in their offer to Sammy Sosa, bringing the deal to $1 million, non-guaranteed. While Sosa gave it some thought, he ultimately declined this new proposition Tuesday night, leaving Ryan Church as the most likely starter in center field. I suppose we might see Soriano running around out there, but the fans–myself included–want Church. (Go check out the poll on nationals.com.)

BallHype: hype it up!

  1. Hi Sam,

Do you think they are going to trade Soriano? Is Vidro washed up? I hate the thought of Soriano in the outfield, especially when he doesn't want to play that position. I don't think he will hit at RFK either. His stats (hitting) have probably been inflated by playing in Texas. I worry about him in Washington.
