Non-waiver trade deadline: 6 days, 7 hours, 59 minutes

Cubs fans wanting Nevin, Dusty ousted

Tony Womack has been sent down to Triple-A Iowa. That didn't last long! It's not clear if this is based on his own performance or just the club needing to make room on the roster so they can bring up back-up catcher Geovany Soto since Henry Blanco is experiencing neck pain. We'll know for certain when Soto is sent back down to the minors.

Cubs fans are hoping that Paul Sullivan's comments about an imminent trade of Phil Nevin are true. Nevin, who was with the Padres last year and arrived in Chicago via Texas earlier this month, was expected to add some veteran pop to the Cubs line-up but has been struggling at the plate so far this season. The Nevin for Hairston trade was a little perplexing: Texas has a number of quality infielders to handle 2B, and Nevin seems a better fit as a DH for an AL team. Could Nevin be on the move soon? What AL team has a hole at DH and could risk bringing in Nevin?

Meanwhile, the now-familiar calls for Dusty Baker's dismissal are getting louder (though not everyone agrees this will solve the Cubs' problems), and dealing Neifi is still hot on the lips of Cubs' fans.
