Nationals start new chapter on the right foot
The sale of the Washington Nationals has been approved by MLB owners. The deal should close sometime between June 15 and the All-Star break. After the Loria debacle and mismanagement under MLB, new ownership provides some much needed hope for the Nats. New owner Ted Lerner has just one goal for his new team: "We want to have a winning team, playing in a great ballpark in a city that belongs to all Americans."
To celebrate, the Nationals had a field day against the Cubs and pitcher Kerry Wood, in his return from the DL and first game since last July. Ryan Zimmerman, Damian Jackson, Alfonso Soriano and Marlon Anderson each hit a home run in the 5-3 win–a nice turnaround after being 1-hit by Cubs pitchers the night before (and shut out for 2 games straight).
