Griffey back with a blast
What a game! Zach Day had a great outing. Bronson Arroyo also pitched extremely well for the Reds, shutting out the Nationals until the 9th inning, when Matt LeCroy hit a sac fly to bring home the tying run. A 1-1 tie put the game into extra innings. "The Chief" Chad Cordero worked his usual magic out of the Nats bullpen. In the top of the 11th, the Nats put 3 runs up on the board in grand fashion. With baseball though, a 3 run lead in the 11th inning does not guarantee a win, especially when Ken Griffey Jr. is making his comeback to the Reds lineup after a month-long stint on the DL. With one run in and two men on base, Griffey hit a monster 3-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the 11th. Reds win it 5-4.
