Towers, Adams demoted to minors

Well, it seems as if one of my Blue Jays predictions has come true: Josh Towers was sent to the minors after last night's dismal performance against the Devil Rays. The Jays plan to call up a reliever to help out in the bullpen until injured starter Gustavo Chacin returns to the starting rotation next week. Due to upcoming mid-week off-days, the Jays don't require a 5th starter until June 6, and the club wasn't ready to announce who might replace Towers.

My earlier Blue Jays prediction about Russ Adams and Aaron Hill isn't panning out. Adams has committed 10 errors in 36 games at shortstop, and despite driving in a run with a double on Wednesday night (and maintaining a .258 BA), he too has been sent down to the minors "to clear his head". John McDonald and Luis Figueroa (from Triple-A Syracuse) will split time at the position for now.

Instead, John Gibbons pulled a rather unexpected move by penciling in Troy Glaus at shortstop! The switch was labeled as a "one-night deal" but with John McDonald going down to a mild groin injury the following day (he is listed as day-to-day), you can't stop but wonder who we might see up the middle in the coming weeks.
