Belliard gets extension, Young wants to stay

The Washington Nationals wisely extended the hot-hitting, work horse 2B, Ronnie Belliard, on Monday. I like this move. Belliard is surprisingly affordable and reliable. He's got a great attitude in the clubhouse, and can play decent 3B, SS and 1B. Belliard is also valuable off the bench. The Nationals don't have much to back up this … Read more »

Suitors for Jack Wilson?

Cesar Izturis has been sent packing from Chicago in a trade that should put him back to regular playing time with the Pirates. This seems like an obvious indication that Jack Wilson will be traded. I know the Jays were considering Wilson in the off-season, but they seem set with their infield these days. MLBTradeRumors recently … Read more »

Roy Oswalt is making a rare relief appearance right now in Washington. The Astros have said he's an "untouchable" but the presence of some scouts in the house might be the reason why he's throwing in relief. Or, is he simply getting a chance to get an out after suffering a rough loss in his last start? Really, … Read more »

I just love a good baseball comeback story, and the Nationals' Dmitri Young has got to be in the lead for the Comeback Player of the Year award. ESPN has a great story up right now about Young's amazing turnaround. The former Detroit Tiger is currently in third place in the NL for BA, … Read more »

Blalock's bum shoulder knocks him off trading block

Texas Rangers' 3B Hank Blalock is scheduled to have shoulder surgery next week, a move that could keep him on the sidelines for up to three months. Blalock has been a solid offensive threat for the Rangers for several years now, and was recently mentioned in several trade rumors. Presumably, this news will halt … Read more »
