Nationals start new chapter on the right foot

The sale of the Washington Nationals has been approved by MLB owners. To celebrate, the Nationals had a field day against the Cubs and pitcher Kerry Wood in his return from the DL.

Griffey back with a blast

What a game! Zach Day had a great outing. Bronson Arroyo also pitched extremely well for the Reds, shutting out the Nationals until the 9th inning, when Matt LeCroy hit a sac fly to bring home the tying run. A 1-1 tie put the game into extra innings.

Mirabelli back to Boston

In an interesting move today, the Boston Red Sox have reacquired catcher Doug Mirabelli from the San Diego Padres. Mirabelli joined the Friars in the off-season in a trade that sent 2B-man Mark Loretta to Boston. In return, the Padres get catcher Josh Bard, pitcher Cla Meredith and either a player to be named later or cash.
